FONTLOG for the Compl Sans JP Condensed fonts
=============================================

This file provides detailed information on the Compl Sans JP Condensed
font software. This information should be distributed along with the
Compl Sans JP Condensed fonts and any derivative works.


Basic Font Information
---------------------

Compl Sans JP Condensed is a condensed Japanese sans-serif family built
entirely from OFL sources by an automated pipeline:

  - Ideographs and kana: IBM Plex Sans JP, condensed algorithmically
    (horizontal compression with stem-weight compensation and counter
    tightening).
  - Latin, Greek, Cyrillic: transplanted from IBM Plex Sans Condensed,
    including characters IBM Plex Sans JP lacks (Vietnamese, Romanian,
    extended Cyrillic, currency signs), their italics, and mark positioning
    (GPOS mark with a new GDEF).
  - Han ideographs missing from IBM Plex Sans JP (about 15,000, mostly
    Simplified Chinese and CJK Extension A) are added from IBM Plex Sans SC
    and condensed the same way. Code points present in both fonts keep the
    IBM Plex Sans JP (Japanese) glyph forms.
  - palt / halt advance adjustments and vertical metrics are recomputed
    for the new proportions.

The condensing approach is informed by the Glow Sans project
(https://github.com/welai/glow-sans), which is also under the OFL. No
Glow Sans outline data is used; only IBM Plex outlines pass through the
pipeline.

No manual outline editing is performed. Hinting is dropped. Do not expect
the same rendering quality as the source fonts, especially at small sizes.

"Compl Sans JP Condensed" is not a Reserved Font Name.

The fonts are released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (see OFL.txt).
The Python build scripts are additionally available under the MIT License
(see LICENSE-CODE) for reuse outside this project.
